Conscious Evolution and Transformational Change in the Modern World System

- A Gaian Ethics A Modest Proposal of Commitment to Peace Robert J. Brem Take RESPONSIBILITY: I accept responsibility for my behavior in the world. In that my thoughts are creative, I control my own destiny in the context and shaping influence of a cosmos that is an ongoing interactive unity. This One--God & Goddess One, all life, all that is--is a neverending tale where the dialectical interactions of all its parts or perspectives are sentences in a developing narrative: an ongoing creation that is Gaia. As a human, one among many sentient beings--from human to bird to earth--I accept responsibility for our world as a co-steward. In the whole of creation, no part is less or more than another. I am my sister & brother creatures' keeper, and they mine--we are interdependent. I will live in harmony with nature and be responsible for protecting our world and the sacred child in all of us. Therefore, Seek AWARENESS AND TRUTH: The nature of the cosmos, and therefore truth, is both infinite and diverse--in awareness of this I will be open to truth which comes from first listening rather than speaking and with seeking from an open soul; then, with speaking quietly what tentative truths--as truth is ever evolutionary--I have seen quietly, clearly and with conviction. The path to peace requires such commitment--hearing and seeing, awareness and understanding: accepting. In all its myriad and diverse forms, I will seek truth. Nothing is sacred or above question. No matter the pain or consequence to myself or my belief systems, I will seek truth--for such is the only way to growth. In my actions, Have UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE: Such shall I render unto all sentient beings. For humans, as for all life, they're for loving not judging. I have not the perspective nor the competence to judge good and evil, so I won't. At the root of human misery is judgment--labeling and hurting people and myself through such dysfunctional perception. I need not agree with someone or something, nor will all agree with me, and I do not expect them too. While having expressed wants, I also renounce expectations of others and neither shall I seek comparative valuation of myself and others: such is not conducive to harmony. Therefore, Practice BEING POSITIVE: In myself and in others I will seek to promote enhanced self esteem. Though sovereignty over an individual, belongs to that individual, we are nothing without one another. We need the perspective of others to see our selves clearly. Our actions effect one another and it is only through loving response to one another that we may have positive change and peaceful coexistence. If need be, out of love I will dissent from those who for whatever reason would do violence to me or any of my peers or the world in which we exist. While I may call people on incongruencies and be open to the same, I will care and affirmatively respond to that which is positive to promote actualization in self and others. Therefore,
Habituate TRUSTING & SHARING: Only through being trusting are we perceived as worthy of trust. Only through trust might peace flourish. Only through peace may life be long and prosper. Trusting must be taught and teaching is an act of sharing. My life is my best teaching tool, thus, even at risk, I will trust and share. With a commitment to peace and non-violence--and a way of being balanced: mind, heart, body and spirit--I will follow my percipience guided instincts. I will disclose who I am, and by my actions--speak. To do this, I will be human. I will laugh and cry, think and feel, reach out and be open to being sought; encouraging such things from my peers thereby. Also, Be COMPASSIONATE: Ever nurturing empathy, to myself and others I will extend compassion. We are frail beings in many ways, thus, perfection is not human unless it is that with all our perceived "weaknesses" (which indeed are often strengths) we are perfect just as we are. What oft we see as "flaws" are part of what it is to be human. Flaws are part of the plan, and the plan is perfect. It is only our belief systems which act as a barrier to our expression of this perfection. In a sense, I "forgive" our humanness. Where I can, I will be source of strength and healing. Furthermore, Apply COOPERATION: The only honorable competition is with the self towards actualization. Winning, if not for all, is actually losing. Only through cooperation may growth of life to all its potentialities be achieved. To seek to win at the expense of another's losing is no victory. It is dehumanizing and ends play: I will not be the instrument of someone's loss. That play may continue--the infinite game, an ongoing weaving of the Gaian tale--I will cooperate in creative reality for growth acting with a commitment to non-violent behavior and nurturance of a social bond. Overall, Choosing life, LOVE: I will unconditionally, without judgment, accept and trust the Cosmos, in all its familial aspects, as it is, not how I wish it to be. In any given situation, I will seek to know what it is that needs to be given, and I will give it. My life's decisions are thus made: I will give, cooperate, and love. Through love, and all its ramifications, the Peace of the Tao, of Yahweh--an infinite and eternal oneness and beingness--is ours. We are one with the Cosmos, children of the universe, starstuff: Gaia. Thus, life is its own meaning. Life's purpose is to love one another as the Goddess & God One--our mother-brother-father-sister--loves us. Through love, "we" (Gaia) become... Namaste! I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honor the place in you where, if you are at that place in you, and I am at that place in me, There is only one of us. Namaste and Peace...
